Announcing May Programs at Workcoeman

Update (1 May 2021): Registration links are now available for Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA.

Nature themed day only Scouting programs are planned for 22 May 2021 at Camp Workcoeman. A Nature Adventure Merit Badge Day as well as a Shooting and Fishing Merit Badge Completion Day are available for Scouts BSA. Additionally, a Cub Scout Nature Experience is taking place.

Citizens of Shawtown Newsletter — Spring 2021

Update (2021-04-21): Steak Dinner flier and registration are now available.

The Spring 2021 edition of the Citizens of Shawtown newsletter is now available. Read the latest news here and visit the Citizens of Shawtown page to find out more.

The Citizens are currently planning for their annual Steak Dinner to be held after Beaver Day on Saturday, June 5. Precise COVID-19 restrictions are TBD; more information will be forthcoming.

The Citizens of Shawtown is Camp Workcoeman’s volunteer support organization, which works throughout the year to provide instructional support for camp programs and to organize, fund, and carry out maintenance projects.

Update: A Rifle Merit Badge completion day has been added to the April program.

Day only Scouting programs are planned for 24 April 2021 and throughout the spring at Camp Workcoeman. Registration is now open for the March Scouts BSA Workcoeman Crafts and Skills Experience and Cub Scout Heritage and Skills Adventure.

Beaver Day — Saturday, June 5, 2021

Join us on Saturday, June 5th for the annual Camp Workcoeman Beaver Day. This work day allows us to get a head start on setting up camp for another exciting season. We’ll gather in the Dining Hall at 8:30 AM before beginning work at 9:00 AM. Lunch will be provided. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Masks, social distancing, and preregistration are required.

Tent Camping Resumes at Camp Workcoeman

Effective 19 March, units in the Connecticut Rivers Council may resume overnight tent camping and expand in-person activities in accordance with state and Council guidance. Please see the Short Term Camping section of this website to reserve a campsite at Camp Workcoeman and ctscouting.org for full details.

About Camp

Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford and Barkhamsted. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest in Connecticut.

Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For 100 years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have had unforgettable Scouting experiences at Camp Workcoeman. This fine tradition of Scouting continues today.
