14 Dec 2024 — Camp Workcoeman has a variety of programs taking place this winter and spring for both Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts. In addition, training opportunities and campsite/facility rentals are available. We hope to you at camp!>
Two pre-camp planning meetings are scheduled for your troop leadership to meet with key members of the camp staff and develop a program that meets your needs. Your Camp Scoutmaster and Senior Patrol Leader are urged to attend one of these meetings. You will also be given information regarding camp policies and medical form and related health information as well as procedures for your Sunday arrival and check-in. A visit to your campsite is possible with a Camp Commissioner.
Meetings are scheduled for Saturday, May 3, and Saturday, May 17. Each event begins at 1:30 and takes place in the Camp Workcoeman Dining Hall. Please verify your troop’s attendance at either meeting by emailing Lou Seiser at [email protected].
The trail crew held this weekend was a success. Despite the snow cover hindering what could be done, crews using axes and two-man crosscut saws cleared the vast majority of trees that had fallen on the trails over the past few years, and others posted signs delineating Workcoeman’s western and northern property boundaries.
A big thank you to the Scouts and Scouters that helped with the trail crew projects this weekend. Much appreciation to the group of staff members, Troop 121, Troop 23, Troop 18, Troop 3, Troop 6, Troop 425, Troop 68, and camp alumni who toiled to improve Workcoeman’s trails.
Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford and Barkhamsted. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest in Connecticut.
Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For 100 years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have had unforgettable Scouting experiences at Camp Workcoeman. This fine tradition of Scouting continues today.
