The Citizens of Shawtown is Camp Workcoeman’s volunteer support organization which works throughout the year to provide instructional support for camp programs and to organize, fund, and carry out maintenance projects.

In the off-season, Camp Workcoeman offers a number of short term camping options as well as meeting areas. Rental offerings include campsites, Adirondack shelters, and cabins as well as pavilions, the kitchen, the Dining Hall, the shooting ranges, and the climbing wall. Is your unit planning on attending the Florida Sea Base? If so, get your required SCUBA certification while attending a week of Scouts BSA camp at Camp Workcoeman. Located in the scenic hills of northwestern Connecticut, Camp Workcoeman boasts one of the cleanest lakes around—perfect for learning to SCUBA dive locally in New England.
During the third and fifth weeks of Scout camp, instructors from the Enfield Scuba and Watersports will also offer a full PADI Open Water certification course. The cost of the full certification course is $550, which includes the course fee and covers a full week’s stay at camp.

Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford and Barkhamsted. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest in Connecticut.
Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For 101 years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have had unforgettable Scouting experiences at Camp Workcoeman. This fine tradition of Scouting continues today.
