24 Apr 2024 — All pages of the camp website have been updated with info on the 2024 summer season, and registration is open for all summer programs. The Scouts BSA Summer Program Guide is now available.
Update on recent Shawtown activity at camp: Our workday at camp on November 23rd was a great success, especially due to the large turnout of Shawtown members. It was great!
We were able to nearly complete the metal roofing installation on the Pole Barn (only two more panels to go!). Crews also split large amounts of wood at both the Weed Lodge and Griffin Lodge locations for use this winter by troops attending camp, made repairs to the Dining Hall shingles as needed, completed the installation of the ridge cap on the Director’s cabin, and made repairs to several items under the Dining Hall storage area.
Those attending were provided lunch and beverages along with great conversation and fellowship. Thanks to all who were able to attend before Old Man Winter sets in!

The Citizens of Shawtown is Camp Workcoeman’s volunteer support organization which works throughout the year to provide instructional support for camp programs and to organize, fund, and carry out maintenance projects.

In the off-season, Camp Workcoeman offers a number of short term camping options as well as meeting areas. Rental offerings include campsites, Adirondack shelters, and cabins as well as pavilions, the kitchen, the Dining Hall, the shooting ranges, and the climbing wall. Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford and Barkhamsted. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest in Connecticut.
Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For 100 years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have had unforgettable Scouting experiences at Camp Workcoeman. This fine tradition of Scouting continues today.
