COVID-19 Update

19 May 2020Camp Workcoeman is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and all regularly scheduled summer programs are canceled. There will be no camping, work days, etc. until further notice. Beaver Day is postponed indefinitely. Activities may be possible in the late summer and early fall if conditions permit. We do not yet know what these activities will look like; however, the safety of our Scouts, staff, and guests is and will always be our top priority.

04 May 2020 — The annual Shawtown Steak Dinner scheduled for June has been canceled (more info).

29 April 2020 — A new Scouting at Home section of this website has been created to catalog weekly videos and challenges posted to camp social media channels aimed at keeping you occupied and engaged during these difficult times.

Cub Scout Sleepaway Camp (Mini Week)

Cub Scout Sleepaway Camp has been canceled for 2020.

August 9–12, 2020 and August 12–15, 2020

Cub Scout Sleepaway Camp is a 4 day, 3 night mini camp that is great for all Cub Scouts who are looking to try a resident camp with their adult partner. This camp is especially designed for Cubs who have never been away at camp and will have a blast experiencing all that camp has to offer.

Camp Workcoeman has lots of fun activities for a Cub Scout to experience including:

  • Swimming
  • BB Shooting
  • Boating
  • Sports
  • Archery
  • Crafts
  • Nature
  • Campfires

Scouts and their adult partners will have a great time sleeping in tents, eating in the camp dining hall, and having a great time exploring the vast Camp Workcoeman reservation.

All the fun takes place under the watchful eye of our highly trained and certified staff ensuring a safe and fun experience. Camp Workcoeman is a Nationally Accredited Camp by the BSA and has a long history in Scouting since 1924.

Cub Experience Camp promotes fun with a purpose and allows Cub Scouts to work on some advancement as well.

About Camp

Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford and Barkhamsted. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest in Connecticut.

Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For 96 years, thousands of Scouts and Scouters have had unforgettable Scouting experiences at Camp Workcoeman. This fine tradition of Scouting continues today.
